I suppose that's what many visitors coming to the site will ask. The forums are not very active and the main page is rarely updated.
I suppose a general overview of our current status is in order, so here we go:
Us developers of SMTC actually have some kind of lives. Unfortunately we do not have the time to spend every minute of every second coding SMTC and it's many parts. We both work full time jobs and will be returning to school in the fall. This often leaves us tired and unwilling to be spending hours developing SMTC at a time.
To expand on our purposes and direct statuses in developing and moderating the project, I will be re-iterating our functions.
Salty is the primary developer of SMTC. By primary, I only mean that he has the sole occupation of developing the main game, it's file formats, etc. While many decisions are his, we share equal authority pertaining to the ownership and moderation of SMTC. Although the game is pretty much his sole occupation regarding SMTC, it is very large and there are many things for him to accomplish so sometimes his work progresses slowly.
I, Crimson, am the webmaster, forums administrator, co-owner, secondary programmer, distributor, and general everything else Salty doesn't feel like doing guy. Most questions should be directed to me as I run everything else but the game's direct development. Only technical questions should really be directed to Salty.
At the present moment, while Salty works and develops SMTC, I am working on many things. Besides my full time job, I am also designing a new website layout, designing a new website system via PHP and MySQL, and trying to get as much other time into the development of the editor.
Another thing I should say is that before even really jumping right into the editor I've decided to try and learn the Windows API and DirectX GDI in order to create THE ULTIMATE EDITOR...for windows. The windows-like system is basically what I want, but in previous editor versions I had not the capability to dabble in that sort of thing. We'll see how far I get this time.
Before I go, I believe I should point out that me and Salty mainly took up this project as a learning experience, and that fact is a reason why development goes so slow. Often as we develop SMTC we get sidetracked or want to learn how to add better features. This is much easier to see in my development as I have scrapped the editor many times to apply my new knowledge in a different way that I hope will ultimately improve the editor while expanding my skillset. This is why the editor falls behind and gets redone. There is no definate plan for SMTC, we make it up as we go along and learn along the way.
Thought you guys should know.
